Update to all: the campaign has sidetracked, first to some urban encounters and then to Goodman Game's adveture M2: Kingspire. We also missed last session, so it's been a month between games. Once the PCs are back in the region I'll figure out what has transpired based on how much time has lapsed.

How would it go if the Drow were to be run out of their home, and the elves out of theirs, and forced to live together in a world where murder meant feeding the enemy army? Same when Dwarves and giants must live together, and so forth.

It has been pointed out to me off-blog that perhaps population group 1 might be better-defined as "those with a professional interest in undead and undeath" - that includes the religious types but also necromancers, undead hunters, etc.

Ooooh, major race population displacement VERY interesting. Especially if you consider that if anyone dies in any of these violent uprisings, it will only add to the net amount of undead. If the dead are rising as well as streaming out of the rift, you need to NOT kill your enemies. Hello, clenched teeth diplomacy!

Having thrown this together in less than an hour, I find that I neglected the 4th populace group: evil creatures and evil people who would flock to the new powerbase of darkness, and which would only add to the hazards faced by anyone who would seek to close the portal.
