I'd suggest Eclipse: The Codex Persona and The Practical Enchanter. Eclipse - along with many other things - does away with classes and includes six or seven new magic systems. The Practical Enchanter covers an enormous number of new spells and magical options - and they're both available as freeware PDF's over at RPGNow.

Yeah, Unearthed Arcana was a brilliant piece of work. And really no sacred cows in there - it even does away with hit points. (I used those rules in a half dozen other d20 games after that).

I'm afraid that Unearthed Arcana is one of the items still on my shopping list, Nicholas. But you make a good case for moving it to the top of that list!

I'm still waiting to see my personal favorite, Unearthed Arcana. There are so many books that pile on new prestige classes and feats, but Unearthed Arcana felt truly original by offering new ways to do things. The book had no scared cows, there were multiple new systems for classes and magic. It really changed the way I played 3.x.
